Due to popular demand, the LVFA has created an online schedule of events calendar for the community of Lompoc.
We will be posting events as they come to us. The calendar is coded by event type to make for easy viewing.
The calendar can be accessed through our website as well as the blog. On the front page of our website, you will see a clickable link that states “CLICK HERE FOR SCHEDULE OF EVENTS CALENDAR.” On this blog, on the menu to the left of the site is a clickable link that says Schedule of Events.

Attention Queen Candidate prospects!
The application to apply to be a queen candidate is in the link below. Please read through the paperwork thoroughly before signing and submitting.
The deadline for all applications is Friday, January 13th at 3pm.

Application & Rules
Sunday, September 18th we held a BBQ to inaugurate the new Board Members. This year, eight candidates sought out a spot on the board, many more candidates than any years past. There were three seats open for grabs. The new board members are Patrice Barritt, Bonnie Braithwaite, and Ben Contreras Jr.
Patrice Barritt has been an active member of the association for seven years. She has held the chairmen titles of Arts and Craft Chairman (2 years) & Food Booth Chairman (6 years.) Patrice is born and raised in Lompoc and has dedicated countless hours of her time to excel in her role as Chairman. The Festival would not be the same without her! When asked why Patrice would like to join the Board, she said, “Since I have been a Chairman for the past few years, I believe I could offer some insight on how to improve the Festival and bring positive change to the community.”
Bonnie Braithwaite has been a long-time member of the association and has held the positions of Board Member, Carnival Ticket Chairman, Parade Chairman, and has been a two-time Association President. Bonnie has helped with the Queen Division as well as various facets of the Festivals over the years. When asked why Bonnie wants to join the board she replied, “I would like to join the Board in order to help the community and the Association in a way that I know how to.”
Ben Contreras is a native of Lompoc and has served on the Village Country Club for the past 9 years, a proud Elks Club Member for 36 years, owner of Fort Storage and Contreras Insurance Services, and has been serving the Lompoc area for more than 40 years. He has enjoyed being a board member for the LVFA for three years, Entertainment Committee for seven years, as well as Entertainment Chairman for four years. Ben said, of being asked to serve as Entertainment Chair for 2017, “I hope everyone has been happy with the entertainment lineup for the past four years. I will have additional time to devote to the LVFA and would be privileged to have your vote for the board!”
These people will serve on the board until the year September,2019. We are so happy to have them on board!
Food Booth Meeting
There will be a food booth meeting on February 24, 2016 in the festival office. All organizations that are planning to participate in the Spring Arts and/or Flower Festival need to send a representative. If you know anyone who is planning to have a food booth, please encourage them to attend the meeting.
Lompoc Chamber Mixer
The Lompoc Festival Association will be hosting the Lompoc Chamber mixer on February 9th from 6 – 8pm. All members are welcome to attend. We are asking for our members to bring food or drinks for the potluck. Come out and represent our organization with pride!
2016 Flower Festival Queen Candidates
This year’s Queen Mom is Anita Cordero Barato. Anita along with her co-chair, Janet Russell, will be working with our 5 Queen Candidates to prepare for the Queen’s Coronation Ball. This year’s candidates are: Aleaha Wheeler sponsored by Hispanic Business Committee, Azhane Griggs sponsored by the Kiwanis Auxiliary, Cierra Green sponsored by the Kiwanis, Jordan Weigel sponsored by the EDA City of Lompoc, and Zoe Burritt sponsored by the American Legion Post 211. You can meet all of our candidates at the Chamber Mixer.
From the desk of: Anita, Queen Division Chairman
Our 2016 Queen Candidate Division has begun and our 5 Candidates started it off with walking in the Christmas Parade along with the 2015 Queen and Court. It was a great time for all. The girls have started with their weekly meetings and recently had their first photo shoot which included something a little different centered on our 2016 theme, All That Jazz. Publicity will be starting in the next month including button sales, posters, and Queen Ticket sales. The 2016 Candidates will be introducing themselves at the upcoming Chamber Mixer. Meanwhile, they will be organizing fundraisers with their sponsoring organizations and preparing for the 2016 Premiere. This Premiere will be a fun and entertaining event.

Our association is deciding to take a new approach to the newsletter. Over the past several years we have sent out a monthly newsletter to our membership that explains what’s been going on with us. Why limit the newsletter to our membership? Why not create running news feed? That is why we are here, giving this a shot.
